Tutor (Special Education)

Location: Glendale, California, United States. On-site, in-person tutoring in students' homes.

Salary: $25–$35 per hour. Schedule: 10 hours per month, with two 1.15-hour sessions per week.

What you will do

• Provide individualized one-to-one instruction in foundational reading, writing, math, and English based on each student's IEP.
• Teach phonics, letter-sound correspondence, CVC words, blending, decoding, early reading fluency, handwriting, sentence formation, and written expression.
• Reinforce number recognition, counting, number sense, addition, and subtraction through structured, manageable activities.
• Use visual supports, hands-on activities, movement breaks, interactive instruction, and consistent routines to maintain engagement.
• Apply positive behavior support, redirection, reinforcement, and self-regulation strategies while supporting attention and task completion.
• Monitor academic and behavioral progress, adjust instruction, and incorporate the student's interests into lessons.

Requirements

• Credentialed teacher with experience teaching elementary-age students in reading, math, and English.
• Experience working with students with autism, speech delays, and/or behavioral challenges.
• Strong knowledge of foundational literacy, early math, handwriting, and written expression.
• Ability to provide patient, energetic, calm, and highly structured instruction during challenging behaviors.
• Ability to work on site in Glendale, California, providing in-home tutoring.
• Ability to deliver frequent redirection and adapt instruction to maintain student engagement.
