Part Time In-Home Reading Tutor (Special Education Experience Required) – Sayville, NY

Location: In-home tutoring in Sayville, New York, United States; Saturdays for 1–2 hours between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM EST

Salary: $35–$40 per hour

What you will do

• Provide 1:1 reading and math tutoring at a third-grade level.
• Use specialized literacy strategies for non-verbal and partially verbal learners with autism.
• Integrate movement, fine-motor, and art-based activities into engaging lessons.
• Use the child's interests in trains, cars, mechanics, skateboarding, scooters, and sports in learning materials.
• Support speech and functional communication development during literacy instruction.
• Coordinate learning approaches with speech, occupational therapy, and ABA teams.

Requirements

• Special education credentials or certifications.
• Extensive experience working with young children with autism and non-verbal or partially verbal communication needs.
• Ability to design interactive, movement-friendly lessons for high-energy learners.
• Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
• Successful completion of a background check is required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with occupational-therapy-aligned educational techniques.
• Experience with multisensory reading programs.
• Availability to tutor the older sibling for additional hours.
