Systems Engineer (Cybersecurity/RMF)

Location: Customer site/program location in Patuxent River, Maryland; on-site or hybrid as required. U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. security clearance are required.

What you will do

• Operate and support lab hardware, compute, storage, networking, peripherals, and development/test infrastructure.
• Provide Windows, Linux, application, virtualization, and OpenStack support across development, integration, simulation, and test environments.
• Support Podman, Docker, Kubernetes, distributed systems, identity, networking, storage, and high-performance workloads.
• Maintain security and compliance through STIG hardening, patching, backups, ACAS/Tenable scanning, remediation, and continuous monitoring.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, hardening, scanning, monitoring, inventory, evidence collection, and repeatable builds using Shell, PowerShell, and related scripting.
• Maintain RMF/ATO documentation and processes, including SSPs, POA&Ms, change control, vulnerability management, and authorization evidence.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. security clearance are required; Secret clearance is the minimum.
• Hands-on experience supporting software development, integration, DevSecOps, simulation, or test environments rather than primarily corporate IT.
• Strong Linux/RHEL, virtualization, cloud, OpenStack, containers, networking, storage, identity, and distributed-systems experience.
• Practical experience with government ATO/RMF processes, NIST SP 800-53, DISA STIGs, SSPs, POA&Ms, eMASS, ACAS/Tenable, vulnerability management, and change control.
• Ability to identify compliant engineering solutions when developer requests conflict with an authorized baseline and translate between developers and cybersecurity personnel.
• Experience automating infrastructure operations, configuration validation, security controls, monitoring, inventory, and evidence collection.

Nice to have

• Active Secret or higher clearance already adjudicated.
• Experience with Navy, NAVWAR, DoD lab, or range environments.
• Experience with classified or tightly controlled networks.
• Infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management experience, including Ansible.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines in authorized environments.
