Location: The Woodlands, TX; New Orleans, LA; Palm Beach Gardens, FL; or Nashville, TN. The role is primarily outdoors, requires frequent travel and overnight stays, and involves work around utility infrastructure, active roadways, traffic, and the public.
Salary: $20–$31 per hour.

What you will do
- Perform independent ground-based pole inspections, conductor observations, hammer sounding, photography, and utility asset data collection.
- Operate handheld and ground-based LiDAR equipment and adapt inspection methods to complex field conditions.
- Review field data for completeness and accuracy, apply QA/QC practices, and identify workflow or data quality issues.
- Organize, transfer, and upload field data while supporting daily crew logistics and UAS operations as assigned.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Survey Technicians I and II.
- Follow safety procedures, participate in pre-job briefings, and travel frequently with overnight stays.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 3 years of field survey, utility inspection, or related field experience.
- Experience with transmission and distribution utility infrastructure, including poles, conductors, framing, and associated equipment.
- Proficiency with field data collection applications, tablets, laptops, photography, LiDAR equipment, Microsoft Office, and project documentation tools.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to travel frequently with overnight stays.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, walk on uneven terrain, carry equipment, and maintain strict safety and quality standards.
Nice to have
- Associate degree or related technical training.
- Experience with field quality control, hammer sounding, and conductor observation techniques.
- Ability to resolve field data quality issues independently and guide less experienced technicians.
