Surveying Technician / Field Lead

Location: Linville, North Carolina; field work throughout western North Carolina.

hirify.global, Inc. is hiring for field surveying work supporting USDA Forest Service boundary maintenance activities.

What you will do

• Lead a two-person field crew with a Surveying Aide and coordinate daily activities with the supervisor.
• Paint and post Forest Service and private boundary lines and maintain boundary corners.
• Operate GPS/GNSS equipment to collect corner positions, latitude, longitude, tract numbers, and corner numbers.
• Complete and update Forest Service corner cards and maintain accurate field notes, photographs, GPS files, and supporting documentation.
• Use deeds, plats, maps, corner cards, KMZ files, and georeferenced field maps to support field surveying.
• Identify disturbed, obliterated, or lost monuments and potential encroachments, escalating findings for supervisor or COR direction.

Requirements

• Experience in field surveying, boundary surveying, or comparable land-survey support.
• Experience operating GPS/GNSS equipment and locating monuments and physical boundary evidence.
• Ability to read deeds, plats, maps, bearings and distances, and corner records.
• Ability to lead a two-person field crew.
• Ability to hike and carry equipment through wooded, steep, and uneven terrain.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout western North Carolina.
