Buying Analyst - Purchasing Supplier Development (Automotive)

What you will do

• Develop data-driven sourcing strategies and support supplier selection, capacity, risk, and cost trade-off decisions.
• Perform cost modeling, Value Engineering, scenario analysis, benchmarking, and variance analysis for purchased products.
• Establish and monitor cost metrics and KPIs, prepare dashboards, and provide decision-ready recommendations for leadership.
• Negotiate supplier cost savings and cost avoidance using fact-based analysis and defined cost baselines.
• Lead Annual Price Review activities by analyzing cost drivers and aligning stakeholders on manufacturing improvement actions.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance through KPI tracking, trend analysis, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent professional experience in a direct buying role.
• Experience in purchasing, procurement, product cost analysis, recommendation development, and business decision support.
• Experience owning analytics and negotiation for product costs of $1M or more.
• Experience with supply base strategy analysis and scenario modeling.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP; working experience with Power BI and Power Automate.
• Working knowledge of data analytics platforms and AI tools.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher in business, finance, accounting, economics, engineering, or supply chain management.
• Automotive direct buying experience involving product cost analysis and negotiation.
• Experience with raw material commodity data and familiarity with battery, chemical manufacturing, or critical mineral markets.
