What you will do
- Prepare, test, package, transport, install, set up, and operate quantum sensing hardware during laboratory and field trials.
- Develop just-in-time solutions for unexpected deployment and operating problems across different platforms and locations.
- Diagnose and fix complex mechanical, logistical, and hardware issues during R&D activities.
- Maintain the laboratory and train others to use 3D printers, laser cutters, tools, and related equipment.
- Design simple brackets, enclosures, boxes, and mounting hardware using Inventor CAD.
- Perform light manual machining, component modifications, and custom fixture fabrication while collaborating with scientists and engineers.
Requirements
- Experience deploying advanced hardware and contributing to complex field trials.
- Hands-on experience in electronics, optics, or laser laboratory environments, including hardware troubleshooting or basic laser safety.
- Basic programming and networking experience, including Python.
- Experience in an academic or industrial research environment.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with scientists, research physicists, mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and careful handling of high-precision hardware in unexpected field conditions.
