VP, Division General Counsel (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Durham, North Carolina, US. No travel required.

Base pay: $240,000–$300,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and execute intellectual property strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Manage patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, domains, filings, registrations, and IP governance programs.
• Lead infringement claims, IP disputes, enforcement actions, licensing disputes, trade secret matters, and litigation.
• Draft, review, and negotiate customer, supplier, software licensing, technology partnership, consulting, NDA, and strategic alliance agreements.
• Advise executives and division leaders on transactions, governance, compliance, privacy, cybersecurity, employment law, and business risks.
• Select and oversee outside counsel, expert witnesses, legal budgets, investigations, and responses to governmental inquiries.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in at least one US state bar.
• At least 12 years of legal experience with significant focus on intellectual property law.
• Experience with patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and technology-related matters, including litigation, enforcement, licensing disputes, and settlements.
• Experience advising executives, negotiating contracts, managing outside counsel, and controlling legal budgets.
