Robot Software Engineer Intern (Robotics)

What you will do

• Contribute to networking and communication infrastructure connecting onboard robot systems, cloud services, teleoperation, and monitoring systems.
• Build data collection pipelines for sensor, telemetry, and behavioral data used in model training.
• Develop telemetry and observability systems for real-time visibility into robot health and field performance.
• Create deployment pipelines, logging, debugging tools, and field-testing utilities for robot software development.
• Support robot bring-up and field testing on live hardware while debugging issues across the onboard software stack.
• Collaborate with ML, perception, and control engineers and automate internal workflows.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or recently graduated.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking.
• Strong programming skills in C++, Python, Golang, or Rust.
• Passion for robotics and comfort working with physical hardware in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
• Ability to debug across layers, from driver-level issues to application behavior.
• Willingness to learn new technical topics and grow quickly.

Nice to have

• Experience bringing up and manipulating robots.
• Familiarity with networking, IPC, or communication protocols such as gRPC, DDS, QUIC, or WebSockets.
• Exposure to AWS, GCP, S3, GCS, cloud storage, or data pipelines.
• Experience with perception pipelines, control systems, learned models, or prototype and pre-production hardware.
