Company

hirify.global is a vertically integrated space and defense company developing hardware, robotics, satellite buses, and mission systems for low-Earth-orbit and U.S. national security applications.

What you will do

  • Support weekly field testing through system setup, bring-up, data acquisition, logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and debug software for robotics, computer vision, guidance, navigation, and control, or related systems.
  • Diagnose issues across sensors, actuators, communications, timing, configuration, computing systems, and software.
  • Build scripts and lightweight tools for data collection, visualization, system health monitoring, and test automation.
  • Review test data and logs, reproduce failures, identify root causes, and implement fixes with engineering teams.
  • Support hardware/software integration and test preparation at the Torrance facility while documenting configurations, issues, findings, and software changes.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a BS or MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least one year of sustained hands-on experience developing, integrating, and debugging software on physical hardware through a robotics or rocketry team, research lab, competition, internship, or personal project.
  • Experience in robotics, computer vision, controls, GNC, autonomy, or embedded systems, with programming experience in Python or C++ and comfort working in Linux.
  • Available to work at least three days per week and comfortable working outdoors around active engineering test operations.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because the role may support U.S. Government programs requiring eligibility for a U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available. ITAR eligibility requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylum status, or applicable government authorization.

Nice to have

  • Experience with ROS or ROS 2 and integrating sensors, cameras, actuators, embedded computers, or robotic systems.
  • Experience with OpenCV, PyTorch, state estimation, motion planning, control systems, or related robotics software.
  • Experience with CAN, Ethernet, serial, EtherCAT, data acquisition, telemetry, time synchronization, or experimental test-data analysis.

Culture & Benefits

  • Part-time, temporary, non-exempt employment.
  • Typical Monday–Friday schedule from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with flexibility for mission schedules and program needs.
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, integration, and test teams in a vertically integrated engineering environment.
  • Regular onsite work and field deployments involving real robotic and space-system hardware.
