Software Development Director

Location: Hybrid in Salem, Oregon, United States

Salary: $190,523–$224,145 annually; full salary range: $168,110–$280,180.

What you will do

• Set the strategy, objectives, and direction for software development teams in alignment with product, technology, and organizational goals.
• Establish engineering, quality assurance, planning, estimation, dependency management, and delivery standards across product-aligned teams.
• Lead software engineering managers and technical professionals through performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, coaching, and talent development.
• Partner with product, infrastructure, architecture, information security, and business leaders on roadmaps, capacity, delivery commitments, and vendor solutions.
• Advance Agile and product-oriented ways of working, including iterative delivery, team maturity, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
• Promote secure coding, test automation, CI/CD, code quality, maintainability, observability, production reliability, and operational readiness.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in software engineering, application development, software delivery, or related technology leadership.
• At least 8 years of supervisory or people leadership experience, including leadership of multiple software development teams.
• Experience implementing engineering standards, managing complex delivery portfolios, partnering with product and technology leaders, and leading Agile transformation.
• Strong business acumen, technical skills, relationship-building ability, and experience managing diverse teams.
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, computer engineering, systems analysis, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Hybrid work in Salem, Oregon, United States is required. On-call support may be required, including availability outside business hours.
