Platform Engineer, Content Delivery and Engineering Tools (CDN)

Location: Remote across the U.S.; the listed office location is Columbus, Ohio.

Salary: $90,000–$110,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, work location, and market factors.

What you will do

• Support and administer the Content Delivery Network, including caching, traffic routing, performance optimization, and edge service configuration.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and software delivery workflows with engineering teams.
• Troubleshoot content delivery infrastructure supporting internal and e-commerce applications.
• Develop automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions to improve scalability, consistency, and operational efficiency.
• Monitor platform health, performance, and adoption through observability tools and implement operational improvements.
• Participate in on-call support, incident response, root cause analysis, platform upgrades, capacity planning, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience working with CDNs, preferably Fastly.
• Knowledge of HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, SSL/TLS, caching, load balancing, and application delivery concepts.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and services, preferably Azure.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience with observability platforms such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, scripting, automation, communication, and documentation skills; a bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

Nice to have

• Advanced Fastly administration, including VCL, edge logic, traffic steering, and caching optimization.
• Experience with large-scale e-commerce platforms, GitLab administration, WAF, bot mitigation, and edge security.
• Experience with platform automation, self-service capabilities, software supply chain security, and secure software delivery.
• Experience supporting AI-assisted development tools, platform modernization, or engineering best-practice adoption.
