CA Workers Comp Adjuster - Remote

Location: Fully remote from the USA if not local to the Richfield, Ohio office; hybrid work from the Richfield office is available four days per week.

Salary: $75,000–$80,000 per year.

What you will do

• Manage an inventory of California workers' compensation claims and evaluate compensability and liability.
• Investigate claims to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensability, and damages.
• Determine and negotiate settlements and reserves within assigned authority.
• Communicate coverage and settlement information to insureds, claimants, and external partners.
• Authorize payments, maintain detailed claim files, and ensure timely resolution.
• Attend or support arbitrations, mediations, depositions, and trials when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, risk management and insurance, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least six months of property and casualty claims-handling experience.
• Knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, claims procedures, and applicable industry laws and regulations.
• Analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information and prioritize caseloads for timely claim resolution.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Moderate lost-time claims-handling experience in California.
• SIP certification.
• Progress toward a professional designation such as Associate in Claims.
