Senior Claims Examiner - Property

Location: Chicago, United States; hybrid schedule requiring two days in the office weekly

Salary: $85,000–$95,000 per year, plus performance-based bonus

What you will do

• Adjust and resolve moderate to complex first-party commercial property claims through all stages of the claims process.
• Review coverage, investigate losses, and determine how policy coverage applies.
• Manage business income losses and periods of restoration.
• Document claim files, assess indemnity and expense reserves, and prepare coverage, reservation-of-rights, and denial letters.
• Identify emerging exposures, claims trends, suspected fraud, and opportunities to improve first-party claims practices.
• Support claims projects and deliver a high level of service to insureds and broker partners.

Requirements

• 3+ years of first-party commercial claims handling experience.
• Advanced knowledge of claims analysis, adjusting practices, and claims documentation standards.
• Experience handling litigated claims and negotiating settlements for moderate to complex claims.
• Experience mentoring and training other claims examiners.
• Advanced analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Active insurance adjuster’s license required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
