Transportation Adjuster Property Damage (Commercial Transportation)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; remote work is indicated, with comfort with on-site presence expected for collaboration, leadership, and cross-functional partnership. Occasional travel to client visits, mediations, trials, and other claim-related events is required.

Base compensation: $75,000–$85,000 per year.

What you will do

• Manage approximately 100–120 non-litigated and litigated attorney-represented bodily injury and liability claims involving commercial auto, trucking, and transportation exposures.
• Investigate claims, evaluate coverage, liability, and damages, establish claim strategies, and negotiate settlements.
• Maintain claim diaries, file reviews, reserves, documentation, and compliance throughout the claim lifecycle.
• Coordinate with attorneys and other stakeholders on litigated claims and support appropriate litigation strategies.
• Provide technical guidance to adjusters on commercial auto, bodily injury, liability, and related physical damage exposures.
• Participate in claim reviews, client meetings, customer visits, mediations, trials, and other claim-related events.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience handling heavy commercial auto, trucking, transportation bodily injury, or similar complex liability claims.
• Experience in a third-party administrator (TPA) environment and with attorney-represented, high-volume claims.
• Strong knowledge of commercial auto and trucking insurance, coverage, liability evaluation, damages, negotiation, settlements, and multi-state claims regulations.
• Experience with litigated claims and a strong understanding of the litigation process.
• Ability to independently manage approximately 100–120 moderate-to-complex files, exercise sound judgment, and develop resolution strategies.
• Active adjuster license required; multi-jurisdictional adjuster licensing is beneficial. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
