Process Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Woodstock, Illinois, United States; onsite. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Annual salary: $68,900–$86,100, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.

Charter Casting is a U.S. supplier of precision-engineered iron solutions, including complex iron castings and continuous cast iron bar.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership to improve manufacturing safety, quality, yield, throughput, cost competitiveness, and customer satisfaction.
• Investigate, evaluate, and justify investments in new equipment and manage capital projects from budgeting through installation and startup.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshoot processes on the production floor, and support operations teams.
• Coordinate with Product Engineering on new component process and equipment planning.
• Reduce process variation using Process Control methodology and establish operational metrics.
• Define and document standard operating procedures for new and modified processes while following environmental, quality, and safety requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least one year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing and problem-solving methods, including Kaizen, 5S, and 6 Sigma.
• Experience with manufacturing processes and methods, including flow, layout, assembly, and production equipment.
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control, PFMEA, process control plans, process flow diagrams, and part routings.
• Basic 3D CAD skills, strong analytical ability, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-volume metal stamping, metal forming, automated assembly, metal finishing, or metal treatments.
• Project management experience or experience in the automotive industry.
• Experience with SolidWorks or Pro-E and advanced Microsoft Office features.
• Experience in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
