Director, HR Business Partner

Location: New York, NY; candidates must be based in NYC

Salary: $180,000–$250,000 USD base salary per year, excluding bonus potential, commissions, and equity.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary HR partner for employees and managers across the organization.
• Partner with the VP of People Experience & Operations to shape people strategy and build a high-performing people function.
• Build manager effectiveness programs, coaching frameworks, and leadership toolkits.
• Manage performance review cycles, calibration, feedback frameworks, and talent density practices.
• Handle employee relations matters, including investigations, performance improvement plans, sensitive conversations, and exits.
• Identify learning and development needs and advise on compensation, leveling, organizational design, and headcount planning.

Requirements

• 8–12 years of progressive HR experience, including substantial HRBP or strategic HR partner experience.
• Experience in a high-growth technology company or startup.
• Strong background in employee relations, complex investigations, performance management, and sensitive workplace situations.
• Demonstrated ability to advise leaders, shape people strategy, coach managers, and address performance or skill gaps.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, organizational rigor, judgment, and emotional intelligence.
• Based in NYC.

Nice to have

• Experience in the creator economy, marketplaces, or consumer technology.
• Previous people management experience.
• Experience with compensation strategy, band design, or pay equity analysis.
• SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.
