Senior Controls Technician (Manufacturing Automation)

Location: On-site in Everett, Washington, United States. Schedule flexibility may be required, including day, swing, night, rotating, overtime, weekend, or on-call coverage as operations expand toward multi-shift and 24/7 operations.

What you will do

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and restore automated manufacturing equipment, including PLC/HMI systems, instrumentation, drives, sensors, safety circuits, robotics, and SCADA interfaces.
• Diagnose electrical, controls, network, and automation faults to support production uptime while following established safety and escalation procedures.
• Perform controlled minor updates to PLC/HMI logic, parameters, alarms, recipes, and operator interfaces.
• Support controls checkout, commissioning, validation, and handoff of new or modified equipment with engineering, factory development, vendors, and system integrators.
• Document faults, root causes, corrective actions, procedures, and troubleshooting guides in the CMMS and controls documentation.
• Identify recurring controls issues, obsolete components, and architecture gaps, and support improvements for maintainability and production scale.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience supporting industrial automation, controls, or production equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree, apprenticeship, military technical training, or formal controls training may substitute for some direct experience.
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience with PLC/HMI-controlled equipment, electrical controls, instrumentation, sensors, VFD and servo drives, industrial networks, valves, and machine safety systems.
• Experience with robotics and SCADA/HMI platforms such as Fanuc, Ignition, FactoryTalk, Rockwell/Studio 5000, Siemens/TIA Portal, or similar systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and process diagrams and safely troubleshoot energized industrial systems when appropriate.
• Ability to follow lockout/tagout, NFPA 70E, arc-flash, machine guarding, and site safety procedures; lift up to 49 pounds and work shifts of up to 12 hours.
