Principal Cybersecurity Architect (MedTech)

Location: On-site in Irvine, California, United States

Salary: $170,000–$210,000 annual base range, plus eligible bonus or incentive pay

What you will do

• Define secure architecture strategies across cloud, desktop, mobile, and embedded software platforms.
• Embed secure-by-design principles into engineering processes through threat modeling, architecture reviews, and risk assessments.
• Integrate cybersecurity practices into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows.
• Establish product security standards, reference architectures, and engineering guidelines aligned with industry frameworks.
• Mentor engineers and architects on secure development practices and emerging cybersecurity trends.
• Partner with software, algorithm, quality, regulatory, and product teams to strengthen software resilience and reduce cybersecurity risk.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 15+ years of experience in software architecture, cybersecurity engineering, or product security in complex technical environments.
• Deep expertise in secure software design, application security, and modern software development practices.
• Experience with threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, risk-based security decisions, and cybersecurity integration across the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to influence engineering organizations through technical leadership and communicate complex concepts to cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to work on-site in Irvine, California.

Nice to have

• Experience in medical devices, healthcare technology, or other regulated and safety-critical industries.
• Familiarity with NIST, ISO 27001, OWASP, or similar cybersecurity frameworks.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures, embedded systems, or hybrid software ecosystems.
• CISSP, CSSLP, or an equivalent certification.
• Experience influencing architecture strategy at an enterprise or multi-product level.
