Registered Nurse, RN - Medical 3 Step Down Unit

Location: MelroseWakefield Hospital, Melrose, Massachusetts, United States. Onsite night-shift role, 36 hours per week, every third weekend.

Salary: $37.50–$68.47 per hour, based on full-time equivalent.

What you will do

• Provide direct professional nursing care to patients and families according to physician orders and established clinical standards.
• Assess patients, document findings, and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
• Care for cardiac and medically complex patients requiring telemetry, high-flow oxygen, continuous BiPAP, and oxygen saturation monitoring.
• Manage patient assignments, delegate care appropriately, and coordinate education, discharge planning, referrals, and community resources.
• Support performance improvement, evidence-based practice, departmental committees, and professional development.
• Precept staff and support the onboarding and professional growth of new nurses.

Requirements

• Massachusetts RN licensure required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Department-specific certifications may be required based on patient-care needs.
• RN experience must match the applicable career pathway level: Level I requires less than 12 months; Level II requires 12 months to less than 3 years; Level III requires 3 to less than 8 years; Level IV requires 8 years or more.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team.
• Ability to apply the nursing process and meet the physical demands of patient care, including lifting, repositioning, standing, walking, and monitoring patients.
