TL;DR
Principal Process Technician (Injection Molding): Optimizing injection molding processes and supporting more than 60 injection and LSR molding machines in a medical manufacturing environment with an accent on materials, tooling, equipment diagnostics, and scientific molding. Focus on troubleshooting molding defects, implementing SPC and DOE methods, managing tooling improvements, and coordinating cost and productivity projects.

What you will do

  • Set up and optimize injection molding and LSR molding processes.
  • Support sustaining process engineering for more than 60 molding machines, troubleshooting material, tooling, process, and equipment issues.
  • Diagnose molding defects, perform mold changes and start-ups, and support tooling maintenance.
  • Coordinate tooling modifications, quality improvements, productivity initiatives, and cost-reduction projects.
  • Apply scientific molding methods, including RJG/eDART, design of experiments, and simulation studies.
  • Maintain project records covering issues, corrective actions, costs, milestones, and completion dates while supporting production in the mold hall.

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of plastic injection molding experience, or 10 years of experience with an associate degree in engineering.
  • Knowledge of thermoplastics, LSR materials, auxiliary equipment diagnostics, and injection molding troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand ANSI Y14.5, ISO 594, and geometric tolerancing.
  • Experience using inspection equipment such as microscopes, calipers, gauge pins, CMM, optical systems, and Smart Scope.
  • Ability to implement statistical process control tools and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moving machinery, chemicals, plastic dust, noise, and physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with FDA-GMP, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485 medical manufacturing requirements.
  • Experience supporting tool room engineering and continuous improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
