Setup Technician I (Injection Molding)

Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States; onsite manufacturing role

Salary: $20–$23 per hour, depending on skills and experience.

What you will do

• Set up injection molding presses by installing molds, preparing auxiliary equipment, and adjusting processing parameters.
• Perform equipment startups, verify readiness, and remove, assess, clean, repair, and store molds after production runs.
• Monitor molded products for visual and dimensional conformity and take corrective action when required.
• Complete setup sheets, job packets, work instructions, and other production documentation accurately.
• Support waste reduction, throughput improvement, schedule attainment, visual management, and daily improvement routines.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized press areas while communicating hazards and unsafe conditions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of mechanical or injection molding setup experience preferred.
• Competence with powered hand tools, fasteners, measurement devices, and basic computer and data-entry tasks.
• Mechanical aptitude, intermediate molding and processing skills, and problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
• Ability to recognize quality defects and follow specifications, ISO-compliant processes, safety procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders up to 15 feet, and kneel, crawl, crouch, stand, and work in confined spaces during mold changes.

• SAP experience.
• Participation in Kaizen, 6S, waste-reduction, or other continuous improvement initiatives.
