Salary: $130,000–$220,000 USD annually, plus bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Own coverage of OpenAI, including its leaders, business, products, AI breakthroughs, policy fights, and broader societal impact.
• Break news that moves markets and shapes public discussion.
• Build trusted relationships with hard-to-reach, high-level sources.
• Turn complex, fast-moving developments into clear, compelling narratives.
• Produce both fast-turn scoops and ambitious, high-impact investigations.
• Collaborate with AI, enterprise software, chips, venture capital, and finance journalists in the newsroom.

Requirements

• Proven track record of breaking news and developing high-level sources trusted with sensitive information.
• Strong curiosity about power, money, and how institutions operate.
• Sound judgment and analytical rigor for understanding and explaining complex stories.
• Drive and discipline to manage rapid news coverage alongside major investigations.
• Based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.
• Availability for a hybrid schedule with three days per week in-office.
