TL;DR
Senior Ground Station Systems Engineer (Satellite Communications): Leading the development of complete antenna systems and satellite communications ground terminals from RF electronics and modems to mechanical structures, motors, and control systems with an accent on requirements, system design, implementation, testing, and verification. Focus on technically leading complex antenna programs, developing verification plans, coordinating customer-facing delivery, and solving sophisticated RF and ground terminal engineering challenges.

Location: Duluth, Georgia; attendance at the office during the work week is required

Salary: $180,500–$285,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $224,500–$336,500 annually.

What you will do

  • Lead the technical aspects of antenna systems programs from requirements and concept development through delivery and customer sell-off.
  • Design and integrate RF transmit/receive electronics, high-speed modems, software systems, antenna structures, motors, and reflector controllers.
  • Own detailed system design, implementation, integration, testing, and system verification.
  • Develop test plans and procedures for requirements verification of sophisticated systems.
  • Support business development, customer analysis, proposal generation, systems engineering, and project engineering.
  • Coordinate technical work across ground terminals, antenna telemetry systems, and satellite communications projects.

Requirements

  • 14+ years of experience working on complex systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Direct experience designing and analyzing RF subsystems on multiple fielded projects.
  • Experience conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and testing satellite ground terminals, antenna telemetry systems, or similarly complex systems.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Willingness to work from the Duluth, Georgia office during the work week and travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

  • Model-Based Systems Engineering experience and MATLAB experience.
  • Experience leading project teams or serving as a customer-facing technical lead.
  • Experience with DOORS, Jama, or other requirements management tools.
  • Experience with ARSTRAT certifications, MIL-STD-188-164C, Q-, V-, and E-band antenna designs, and RF equipment.
  • Master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering, plus strong verbal and written communication skills.
