TL;DR
Staff Systems Engineer (Radar) (MATLAB/radar systems): Developing advanced radar solutions through complex analysis, modeling, simulation, signal-processing algorithm development, and flight-test support with an accent on radar performance, waveform design, and system integration. Focus on building high-fidelity simulations, analyzing flight-test data, debugging performance issues, and advancing radar capabilities for maritime, overland, and air-to-air modes.

Location: Farmingdale, New York, United States; onsite work at the Farmingdale facility is required. Occasional overnight travel and airline travel may be required. Access to ITAR-controlled products and technical data is restricted to US Citizens and US Permanent Residents.

Salary: $131,809–$231,802 per year, with a possible annual or quarterly bonus.

What you will do

  • Perform complex analysis, modeling, and simulation for advanced radar solutions.
  • Support requirements flow-down, hardware/software trade studies, system-level design reviews, integration planning, and flight testing.
  • Develop MATLAB-based radar signal-processing algorithms for maritime, overland, and air-to-air modes.
  • Build high-fidelity radar performance simulations incorporating RF-chain parameters and fixed-point signal processing.
  • Generate simulated test vectors, analyze test results, and assess flight-test data.
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines to study system design, resolve performance issues, and advance radar product capabilities and cost effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Typically 10+ years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 6+ years with a master's degree, or 3+ years with a PhD.
  • Experience with active electronically scanned array technology and design.
  • Knowledge of waveform design and signal-processing methods for customer detection and geolocation requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines on challenging radar problems.
  • Must be able to meet US Department of Defense Secret clearance eligibility requirements when required.
  • US Citizens and US Permanent Residents are required for access to ITAR-controlled products and related technical data.

Nice to have

  • Proposal development, Basis of Estimate development, and Earned Value Management Systems experience.
  • Cybersecurity or safety certification experience.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering experience with Cameo or an equivalent tool.
