Solution Architect (Payments)

Location: Toronto, Canada; flexible hybrid work model. hirify.global Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity is required.

Salary: CAD 145,000–155,000 per year, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end solution architecture for payment products, aligning designs with product requirements, enterprise standards, and non-functional requirements.
• Create solution design documents, UML models, architecture diagrams, interface specifications, and implementation blueprints.
• Apply reusable architecture patterns and components while simplifying legacy solutions, reducing technical debt, and managing dependencies.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Platform, Data, Cloud, Security, and Operations teams throughout the SDLC.
• Identify and mitigate technical, security, performance, integration, and operational risks in a 24/7 payments environment.
• Guide architecture reviews, decision records, production readiness, operational handoffs, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive technology experience, including 5 years as a Solution Architect, Technical Lead, Lead Developer, or equivalent.
• Experience translating business and product outcomes into end-to-end solution designs with clear scope, dependencies, assumptions, and implementation guidance.
• T-shaped architecture capability across solution, application, integration, data, infrastructure, and security architecture.
• Experience designing secure, resilient, scalable solutions across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments using APIs, event-driven, messaging, batch, or stream-processing patterns.
• Strong knowledge of availability, performance, security, privacy, observability, capacity, operability, and disaster recovery requirements.
• Experience in financial services or another regulated environment, including frameworks such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001/27002, or SOC 2.

Nice to have

• Architecture, cloud, security, Kubernetes, or TOGAF certifications.
• Experience with architecture spikes, prototypes, proofs of concept, SRE handoffs, runbooks, SLOs, and SLIs.
