TL;DR
IT System Architecture Specialist (Aerospace): Designing and maintaining enterprise IT solutions for defense and security operations with an accent on hybrid cloud architecture, cybersecurity, integration patterns, and regulatory compliance. Focus on leading technical design sessions, improving system scalability and reliability, and incorporating Government of Canada cybersecurity requirements into architecture designs.
Location: Ottawa, Canada; hybrid work with occasional work-from-home arrangements
Base pay: CAD 107,500–157,500 per year

What you will do
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture standards, frameworks, and guidelines.
- Design end-to-end solutions integrating applications, data, infrastructure, on-premises systems, and cloud platforms.
- Lead technical design sessions and provide architectural guidance throughout project lifecycles.
- Define integration patterns using APIs, enterprise service bus technologies, and microservices.
- Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Support monitoring, business continuity, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, privacy, and information security strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in IT architecture, solution architecture, systems design, or a related discipline.
- Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services, plus virtualization, networking, and enterprise infrastructure technologies.
- Knowledge of security architecture, cybersecurity controls, compliance requirements, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies.
- Experience supporting flight operations and/or flight training environments, with strong analytical, decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Experience in government, defense, aerospace, security, or other regulated environments.
- Experience leading enterprise architecture initiatives across large organizations.
- TOGAF, Microsoft Azure Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, CISSP, or ITIL certification.
