What you will do

• Develop and optimize laser, optical, and advanced packaging processes for next-generation semiconductor technologies.
• Design and execute experiments, analyze data, and improve processes using scientific and statistical methods.
• Support the installation, qualification, and ramp-up of new equipment and process technologies.
• Investigate process and equipment issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement solutions to improve yield and reliability.
• Collaborate across engineering teams and document technical findings for technology development and manufacturing readiness.

Requirements

• PhD in optical engineering, optics, photonics, physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related STEM field; or a relevant master's degree with 1+ year of experience; or a bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Hands-on experience with laser, optical, photonic, or related advanced processing technologies in a laboratory, manufacturing, or development environment.
• Proficiency with programming or scripting tools such as Python, MATLAB, JMP/JSL, C++, or LabVIEW.
• Experience with design of experiments, statistical analysis, and data-driven problem-solving.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and technical documentation skills.
• On-site work presence in Phoenix, Arizona is required.

Nice to have

• 4+ years of experience developing laser, optical, or precision micromachining processes.
• Knowledge of laser-material interactions and ultrafast or non-linear optical processes.
• Experience with JSL, automated reporting, coordinate translation, toolpath generation, or recipe automation.
• Experience with 3D optical profilers, confocal microscopes, or surface metrology tools.
• Familiarity with COMSOL, ANSYS, or other optical and multiphysics simulation tools.
