Senior Optical Engineer (Photonics)

Location: On-site in Wilton, Connecticut, United States; a flexible arrangement of up to two remote days per week may be available for eligible work.

What you will do

• Design and develop optical and photonic sensor systems for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Build, align, test, and characterize optical systems and detector assemblies.
• Analyze performance data, identify technical issues, and improve sensor functionality.
• Lead root-cause investigations and develop effective engineering solutions.
• Develop and validate signal-processing algorithms and experimental test plans.
• Collaborate with software, electronics, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, applied physics, optical engineering, photonics, or a related field.
• At least four years of professional experience in optical engineering or photonic system development.
• Experience with optical alignment, imaging systems, detectors, or laboratory testing environments.
• Experience with data analysis and software development using MATLAB and Python.
• On-site presence in Wilton, Connecticut, is required, including regular attendance at the hirify.global facility and in-person work-related events, training, and meetings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in physics, optics, photonics, or a related discipline.
• Experience with laboratory automation, signal processing, or optical system modeling.
