Corporate Finance & Strategy, Public Benefit (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; hybrid policy requires staff to work from an office at least 25% of the time, with some roles requiring more office time.

Annual salary: $240,000–$325,000 USD

What you will do

• Partner with Public Benefit and Global Affairs leaders on the financial planning and management of grants, philanthropy, policy work, and direct programs.
• Lead annual planning, in-year forecasting, and multi-year planning across the giving and policy portfolio.
• Design and operate stage-gated funding frameworks, including tranche releases, graduation criteria, and progress tracking.
• Plan the financial structures and accounting treatment for grants, loans, foundation funding, and in-kind contributions with Legal, Tax, Corporate Development, and Accounting.
• Present funding recommendations and tradeoffs to executive leadership and help define outcome measurement where revenue is not the primary metric.
• Build spend categorization, project codes, workflows, reporting processes, and tools that scale with the program.

Requirements

• Experience in FP&A or strategic finance, ideally supporting philanthropy, social impact, or policy work at a high-growth company or foundation.
• Experience with grants, philanthropy, or impact-investing finance.
• Advanced spreadsheet-based financial modeling skills, including budgets, forecasts, and multi-year plans.
• Clear written and verbal communication with program leaders, policy staff, external partners, and executives.
• Ability to challenge decisions constructively using data and clear reasoning, and to build processes amid ambiguity.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience; commitment to Anthropic’s mission of building safe, beneficial AI systems.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of experience in FP&A or strategic finance.
• Experience building stage-gated or milestone-based funding frameworks.
• Fluency in ERP, procurement, or finance systems.
