Director of Software Engineering (Post-Quantum Cryptography): Leading the development of cryptographic software libraries, secure communication protocols, and secure IP blocks optimized for post-quantum cryptography with an accent on software security, high-performance architecture, and hardware-software co-design. Focus on defining engineering strategy, leading software teams, implementing rigorous CI/CD and verification processes, and ensuring resistance to side-channel and fault-injection attacks.
Location: Remote or hybrid within the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, Netherlands, Spain, or Finland; occasional travel to offices in Oxford, London, and Paris is required.

What you will do
- Define and execute the software engineering strategy in line with the post-quantum cryptography product roadmap.
- Lead and mentor software engineers, developers, and software security specialists.
- Oversee cryptographic software libraries, secure protocols, secure IP blocks, and architectures for embedded, mobile, cloud, and data-centre applications.
- Coordinate software, cryptography, hardware, product, and external partner teams throughout product development and integration.
- Improve Agile delivery processes, sprint execution, testing, verification, and CI/CD automation.
- Communicate technical progress and product decisions to executives, product managers, customers, open-source communities, and external partners.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Degree-level education in computer science, software engineering, or a related field focused on cryptography or cybersecurity.
- Strong experience with software security, cryptographic implementations such as OpenSSL or BoringSSL, and post-quantum cryptography.
- Experience with C, C++, Rust, or other relevant programming languages, plus secure software development and validation.
- Expertise in cryptographic algorithms, protocols, key management, secure architectures, embedded systems, IoT security, and secure coding.
- Knowledge of side-channel attacks, fault injection, implementation countermeasures, PQC standards, and secure software development lifecycle practices.
