Assistant Professor of Practice - Counseling (Counselor Education)

Location: Commerce, Texas, with face-to-face instruction at university campuses in Commerce, Dallas, and Plano; ability to travel to any university instruction site is required.

What you will do

• Teach up to three undergraduate and graduate courses each fall and spring semester through asynchronous, synchronous, and face-to-face formats.
• Serve as Practicum & Internship Coordinator for the CACREP-accredited counseling programs.
• Contribute to the core curriculum and develop courses in areas of professional expertise.
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students and provide timely feedback and academic support.
• Participate in departmental, college, university, accreditation, and institutional effectiveness activities.
• Contribute to the professional counseling community through research, presentations, reviewing, professional organizations, outreach, and service.

Requirements

• Earned doctoral degree in counseling or counselor education, or an accepted equivalent pathway specified in the posting.
• Evidence of effective university-level teaching, including graduate-level online and in-person instruction.
• Active and sustained membership in professional counseling organizations.
• Relevant counseling credentials, such as LPC, LPC-S, licensed chemical dependency counselor, certified school counselor, or registered play therapist, or eligibility and commitment to obtain an appropriate credential within the first year.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, scholarly productivity or potential, and ability to travel between instruction sites.

Nice to have

• Doctoral degree from a CACREP-accredited program and graduate teaching experience in a CACREP-accredited program.
• Knowledge of CACREP standards and accreditation processes.
• LPC-S, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, or Approved Clinical Supervisor credential.
• Expertise in play therapy or clinical supervision.
• Experience serving on dissertation committees and teaching online synchronously and asynchronously.
