Assistant/Associate Professor (Counseling and Therapy Practice)

Location: Prairie View, Texas, United States; full-time, 9-month appointment beginning in fall 2026.

What you will do

• Teach three to four graduate-level courses per semester.
• Maintain an active counseling and therapy research agenda with scholarly publications and presentations.
• Advise and mentor graduate students, including supervision during field experiences and support for certification exams, theses, and dissertations.
• Collaborate with counseling faculty to design and revise curricula aligned with evidence-based research, professional standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Participate in department, college, university, and professional organization service activities.
• Engage in intentional professional development and other assigned academic duties.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Counseling, Counselor Education, or Counselor Education & Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program.
• At least two years of teaching experience in K–12 settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to an inclusive learning environment.
• Graduate-level teaching excellence and experience with online, in-person, and hybrid teaching modalities.
• Research and publication record in discipline-specific, peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience with counselor-training technology and learning management systems such as Canvas and Blackboard.

Nice to have

• Leadership or experience with CACREP accreditation, coordination, supervision, or clinic direction.
• Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist credentials.
• School Counselor certification.
• Experience in schools, private practice, hospitals, or community agencies.
• Experience obtaining external funding through grants and contracts.
