Forward Deployed Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: New York City Office or Washington DC Office

Base salary: $140,000–$190,000 per year

What you will do

• Embed with users on-site to understand operational workflows, constraints, and security requirements.
• Rapidly prototype and iterate on product capabilities based on customer needs.
• Write high-quality production code that extends and strengthens the Method platform.
• Identify repeatable workflows and validate them through working software.
• Communicate hypotheses, tradeoffs, and blockers with the engineering team.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Security Engineers, and Mission Operations to turn prototypes into scalable product capabilities.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building production systems.
• Ability to quickly understand new domains, customer workflows, and operational environments.
• Experience owning projects end-to-end, from discovery through deployment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly.
• Comfort working autonomously in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
• Ability to work from the New York City or Washington DC office and embed with users on-site.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems, backend development, or full-stack engineering.
• Interest in security competitions, CTFs, or related technical pursuits.
• Experience with secure facilities or constrained deployment environments.
• Previous forward-deployed, field engineering, or embedded engineering experience.
