Software Engineer (Defense Technology)

Location: Hybrid/on-site at least 4 days per week in Arlington, VA, Mount Laurel, NJ, or San Diego, CA. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Salary: $90,000–$184,000 per year, with ranges varying by experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Translate customer needs into refined software visions, user requirements, functional requirements, and technical requirements.
• Design, prototype, implement, and test software using modern languages, technology stacks, algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
• Develop software interfaces across network protocols and messaging frameworks.
• Integrate software components into complex software environments and support testing in company and customer laboratories.
• Participate in design and code reviews and apply secure coding practices.
• Assess and mitigate project risks while supporting contractual deliverables.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3–5+ years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of the software development life cycle, object-oriented programming, distributed systems, algorithms, data structures, and software design patterns.
• Experience with software testing, configuration management, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
• Strong analytical, ownership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in AI engineering, generative AI, data pipelines, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or software and cloud security.
• Experience with test automation, databases, containerized deployments, APIs, network and messaging protocols, application security controls, version control, or web interfaces.
• Experience using AI to accelerate software development and delivery.
