Staff+ Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: San Francisco, CA, United States; hybrid policy requiring staff to be in an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time

Annual salary: $405,000–$485,000 USD

What you will do

• Build and ship user-facing and backend features for Claude Security.
• Develop agent loops, tool integrations, and infrastructure for cybersecurity products.
• Collaborate with product management and go-to-market teams to understand user needs, define scope, and make product tradeoffs.
• Iterate on products using user feedback and internal testing.
• Work with research teams to identify and develop new model capabilities for security applications.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Ability to contribute across the stack, from frontend UI to backend infrastructure.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, Python, and/or Go, with experience building distributed systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across research, product, and go-to-market functions.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and/or experience in a relevant field.
• Availability to work under the San Francisco-based hybrid policy, with at least 25% office attendance.

Nice to have

• Experience building client-side terminal applications or cybersecurity products.
• Experience in incident response, reverse engineering, network analysis, penetration testing, or similar fields.
• Experience building skills, plugins, or hooks in Claude Code or similar tools.
• Experience building with Claude Managed Agents or similar frameworks.
