What you will do

• Set the multi-year manufacturing strategy for avionics hardware, including capacity planning, make-or-buy decisions, automation, and organizational design.
• Build, lead, and develop a multi-layered organization covering manufacturing engineering, functional and environmental testing, and production operations.
• Own the manufacturing and test roadmap from process development and test infrastructure through full-rate production and vehicle integration readiness.
• Lead the transition from development-rate to high-rate production while improving reliability, cycle time, yield, and quality.
• Represent avionics manufacturing in company-wide program reviews and provide executive recommendations on production readiness, capacity, resourcing, and risk.
• Coordinate with engineering, vehicle integration, supply chain, quality, and program management to ensure avionics hardware is manufacturable, testable, and deliverable at rate.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably leading manufacturing leaders or managers.
• Experience owning complex electro-mechanical manufacturing and test operations involving PCBAs, wire harnesses, and integrated avionics units.
• Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes, including PCB assembly, conformal coating, potting, ESD protocols, and wire harness fabrication.
• Experience building and scaling a manufacturing organization through a volume ramp from development-rate to high-rate production.
• Ability to lead through ambiguity and shifting timelines and communicate clearly with executive stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with spaceflight avionics testing and standards such as SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-810, and RCC-319/324.
• Familiarity with IPC-610, IPC-J-STD-001 Space Addendum, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and PCB line operations.
• Experience establishing production or test lines from scratch, including equipment selection, layout, staffing, and process validation.
• Lean or Six Sigma leadership experience at the organizational level.
• Experience with high-voltage lithium-ion battery assembly manufacturing.
