Director of Development, Faculty of Science (Major Gifts)

Salary: $10,459.67–$15,675.58 CAD monthly

What you will do

• Lead fundraising strategy across the Faculty of Science in partnership with the Assistant Dean and senior administrators.
• Manage a personal portfolio of leadership-level donors and major-gift prospects, including discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Develop proposals and solicitation materials to secure gifts for priority projects.
• Manage donor pipelines and account strategies for complex leadership gifts.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring, coaching, and development for fundraising staff.
• Support a multi-year campaign and contribute to the Faculty's development and alumni engagement program.

Requirements

• University degree in a relevant discipline.
• At least eight years of related experience, including five years in fundraising, alumni engagement, advancement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven major-gift fundraising experience and strong strategy-development skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects, supervise and mentor staff, and work independently with discretion and sound judgment.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and respect for diverse perspectives.

Nice to have

• Graduate degree or undergraduate degree in commerce, marketing, or economics.
• Three years of meeting or exceeding annual metrics at Associate Director level or equivalent.
• Experience in a university environment, academic structure, or centralized fundraising system.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
