Senior Wildfire Risk Mitigation Consultant (Wildfire Risk Management)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States, or remote within the Western US in a high fire-prone area

Salary: $127,000–$197,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Lead complex wildfire risk mitigation projects, managing timelines, budgets, deliverables, technical direction, and quality oversight.
• Develop wildfire preparedness, planning, risk mitigation, fire protection, environmental assessment, and post-fire recovery strategies.
• Conduct or oversee wildfire and smoke behavior modeling, quantitative risk assessments, fire safety analyses, evacuation modeling, and post-fire investigations.
• Manage GIS mapping, geospatial analysis, and visualization using ArcGIS, QGIS, or comparable tools.
• Prepare technical reports, wildfire protection plans, mitigation strategies, presentations, and community outreach programs.
• Mentor junior staff and support proposals, client relationships, business development, and wildfire service-line growth.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in wildfire preparedness, planning, modeling, risk mitigation, utility wildfire risk management, environmental review, forestry, post-fire recovery, investigations, or related disciplines.
• Bachelor’s degree in disaster risk management, fire engineering, fire science, electrical engineering, environmental sciences, forestry, or a related field.
• Managerial people-leadership experience and strong project management skills.
• Deep technical knowledge of wildfire risk management and fire behavior modeling, including FLAMMAP and FARSITE.
• Hands-on GIS experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, or comparable tools.
• Must reside in Los Angeles, California, or work remotely from the Western US in a high fire-prone area.
