What you will do

• Design and develop precision opto-mechanical components, assemblies, optical mounts, and subsystems.
• Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
• Perform structural, thermal, vibration, CFD, modal, and tolerance analyses to guide design decisions.
• Support prototype fabrication, assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation release.
• Align and integrate lenses, mirrors, lasers, detectors, and imaging components with optical engineering partners.
• Collaborate with systems, electrical, software, manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams through product release.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related experience, master’s degree with 3 years of experience, Ph.D. with 0 years of experience, or equivalent experience.
• Strong foundations in mechanical engineering, optics, precision engineering, and opto-mechanical system design.
• Experience with Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent 3D CAD software, engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Knowledge of geometric optics, ray tracing, optical alignment, optical tolerancing, and alignment sensitivity.
• Experience with FEA, structural and thermal analysis, vibration or modal analysis, precision assemblies, and prototype integration.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment and communicate technical solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with adhesive bonding, soldering, cleanroom-compatible assemblies, vacuum-compatible materials, and low-outgassing materials.
• Ph.D. or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, optical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or a related field.
• Experience using or developing AI tools and agents for design, optimization, and validation.
