Mechanical Design Engineer (Robotics)

Salary: $126,400–$172,200 USD base salary per year, plus a 15% bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop robotic automation systems and infrastructure layouts, including cost and effort estimates.
• Design custom End-of-Arm Tooling, innovative R&D workcells, and automation solutions from concept through component selection.
• Identify and integrate advanced technology products into automation workcells.
• Create manufacturing drawings and document designs for external system integrators and internal build teams.
• Establish standards for mechanical hardware and component selection to support robust, scalable automation.
• Collaborate with product managers, software developers, researchers, industry partners, and customers to deliver physical builds and automation solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–4 years of professional engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience developing custom End-of-Arm Tooling and implementing robotic automation systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, preferably Autodesk Inventor with PDM/PLM systems and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of design principles, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFM/DFA), and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to make decisions in ambiguous situations, drive solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external integrators.

Nice to have

• Experience designing complex robotic workcells, integrating conveyors or AGVs, and designing safety technology.
• Expertise in structural analysis, particularly in electronic manufacturing environments.
• Experience with rapid hardware prototyping, vendor management, and procurement.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for deployments and partner integration.
