Assessment Design & Inclusion Lead (Educational Assessment): Leading the development of fair, accessible and inclusive assessments across AQA qualifications, including paper-based and digital assessment models, with an accent on universal design, accessibility and evidence-based improvement. Focus on analysing assessment data, removing construct-irrelevant barriers, influencing qualification reform, and embedding inclusive assessment principles across regulatory and cross-functional projects.
Location: Manchester or Guildford, UK; hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office
Salary: £55,000–£61,400 in Guildford or £52,800–£59,000 in Manchester

What you will do
- Lead the development and implementation of inclusive assessment and universal design principles across paper-based and digital qualifications.
- Provide expert guidance on accessibility, inclusion, assessment design and the removal of construct-irrelevant barriers.
- Analyse assessment performance data to identify accessibility-related trends, root causes and improvement opportunities.
- Lead inclusion-focused assessment design projects, coordinating stakeholders, resources, budgets and regulatory compliance.
- Deliver training, briefings and knowledge-sharing initiatives to embed inclusive assessment practices across the organisation.
- Review assessments for quality assurance and engage with regulators and external stakeholders, including Ofqual.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in accessibility, inclusion and universal design principles applied to educational assessment.
- Strong understanding of assessment practice in England and the wider regulatory environment.
- Experience designing, developing or managing assessments and delivering strategic quality improvements.
- Experience analysing complex data, conducting root cause analysis and applying continuous improvement principles.
- Experience leading change initiatives and assessment design projects, with strong communication and stakeholder-influencing skills.
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to have
- Experience as a SENCO, Inclusion Lead, Accessibility Specialist or in a similar role.
- Experience with inclusive design for digital exams and digital assessment provider functionality.
