Senior Counsel (Fintech)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work with at least 3 days in the office

hirify.global is a global payments technology company facilitating transactions among consumers, merchants, financial institutions, and government entities.

What you will do

• Provide legal support to internal clients in hirify.global’s Canada office.
• Draft, negotiate, and review complex commercial contracts and other legally binding documents.
• Advise on the interpretation and enforcement of contractual obligations.
• Provide guidance on Canadian payments and financial services regulations.
• Support regulatory compliance and hirify.global’s relationships with the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and the Bank of Canada.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of relevant legal experience.
• Juris Doctorate or LLB from an accredited law school.
• Current membership in good standing of a State Bar, with the ability to become barred or register as in-house counsel where the role is located.
• Strong experience drafting, negotiating, and interpreting complex commercial agreements.
• Ability to prioritize a large number of matters, work independently, and collaborate effectively with internal clients and a small legal team.

Nice to have

• Admission to the Ontario Bar with strong academic credentials.
• Experience in a top law firm or in-house legal environment.
• Knowledge of the Retail Payments Activities Act, Bank Act, OSFI guidelines, anti-money laundering, and consumer protection regulations.
• Strong relationship-building and cross-functional collaboration skills.
