Pharmacy Technician II, Specialty Pharmacy Services

Salary: $23.04–$28.80 per hour, based on full-time equivalent.

What you will do

• Prepare non-complex sterile and non-sterile medications, oral liquids, extemporaneous formulations, and bulk medications according to approved recipes and procedures.
• Operate automated dispensing and unit-dose technology to prepare, package, document, and replenish medications.
• Manage medication inventory, including emergency carts and kits, automated dispensing cabinets, medication rooms, storage areas, cycle counts, and expired-product removal.
• Process patient billing information, third-party prescription benefits, insurance issues, pharmacy pay codes, and point-of-sale transactions.
• Provide customer and patient assistance in person and by phone, triage calls, and maintain pharmacy records and quality-control documentation.
• Communicate with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, ancillary services, and pharmacy colleagues to support safe and efficient medication management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician Registration.
• At least one year of pharmacy-related experience.
• Knowledge of medications, dosing forms, indications, formulary status, strengths, hazardous-substance handling, sterile compounding, and mathematical calculations.
• Ability to stand and walk for approximately 90% of the workday, occasionally lift up to 30 lbs, and push equipment weighing 40–60 lbs.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently with medication records, computer systems, automated dispensing reports, and pharmacy documentation.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree.
• Two years of pharmacy-related experience in a hospital setting.
