Pharmacy Technician III - Specialty Pharmacy Services

Location: Tufts Medical Center, Massachusetts; onsite hospital or specialty pharmacy environment.

What you will do

• Prepare, distribute, inspect, and maintain pharmaceuticals and supplies.
• Perform advanced financial transactions, benefit investigations, inventory audits, narcotic utilization audits, cost accounting, and billing activities.
• Investigate medication issues and communicate with patients, healthcare providers, nurses, physicians, and ancillary services.
• Collect medication profiles and histories, complete data collection, and maintain pharmacy records.
• Prepare complex non-sterile and hazardous sterile medications, specialty infusions, dilutions, and allergy testing kits in hospital technician assignments.
• Support high-priority dispensing workflows, barcode validation, automated dispensing cabinet replenishment, and timely medication distribution.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
• Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician Registration required.
• At least one year of pharmacy-related experience.
• Knowledge of medication names, dosage forms, indications, formulary status, and strengths.
• Ability to stand and walk for most of the day, lift up to 30 lbs, push equipment weighing 40–60 lbs, and work around hazardous chemicals and broken glass.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree.
• Two years of pharmacy experience in a hospital setting.
• Knowledge of hazardous substance handling, complex sterile compounding, and medication-related mathematical calculations.
