Certified Pharmacy Technician I (Pediatric Hospital Pharmacy)

Salary: $20.50–$34.50 per hour

What you will do

• Assist pharmacists with prescription filling, medication dispensing, patient and family support, mail-out orders, medication delivery, and limited compounding.
• Prepare parenteral nutrition solutions, antibiotics, and other intravenous medications using aseptic techniques under pharmacist verification.
• Fill unit-dose medications and support inpatient dispensing workflows, including nursing floor stock, Pyxis stock, controlled substances, and emergency supply carts.
• Maintain accurate patient records, charges, credits, accountability records, audits, and inventory levels.
• Order and replenish pharmacy supplies while coordinating projected needs with pharmacists and warehouse staff.
• Maintain required competencies, participate in training, and maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Registration of a Pharmacy Technician License with the State of Tennessee is required and must be renewed every two years.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification is required.
• Four years of pharmacy experience required with a high school diploma/GED, or no experience required for graduates of a certified pharmacy technician training program.
• Hospital pharmacy experience with parenteral and unit-dose medication preparation is preferred.
• Experience with office computer software applications is preferred.
