Engineer, Electrical Power

Location: North Salt Lake, Utah, United States. Most work will be performed at the Salt Lake Refinery in Salt Lake City, with support for five US refineries and travel to other locations approximately twice per year. Relocation may be considered.

Salary: $137,600–$237,800 per year.

What you will do

• Provide electrical power engineering support for facility-wide infrastructure improvement initiatives across refinery operations.
• Evaluate medium- and high-voltage electrical systems, including distribution systems, substations, switchgear, motor controls, UPS systems, and equipment up to 138 kV.
• Perform electrical distribution studies and engineering analyses using power system modeling tools.
• Develop and manage engineering work orders, purchase specifications, equipment fabrication requirements, and factory acceptance testing.
• Troubleshoot unplanned medium-voltage equipment issues and support repairs, maintenance, turnarounds, construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Provide technical recommendations and mentor electrical engineers on equipment and project-related issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical power engineering.
• Experience designing utility and complex process-facility HV/MV/LV distribution systems.
• Experience with substations, switchgear, motor controls, protection relays, ASDs, transformers, UPS systems, circuit breakers, synchronous motors, and DC power systems.
• Experience with protection coordination and power distribution modeling software for load-flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, and motor-starting studies.
• Applicants must be eligible for local United States payroll; employment visa sponsorship is not available, and individuals on time-limited visa status will not be considered.

Nice to have

• Professional engineering license.
• Experience with the eTAP power distribution modeling program.
