Senior Field Application Engineer (Packaging Automation)

Location: Helmond, Netherlands; extensive travel across Europe, up to 40–50% depending on customer needs.

What you will do

• Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support for HFFS, VFFS, and Flowpack packaging machinery.
• Assess customer requirements and design solutions involving motion control, drives, PLC programming, and HMI integration.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues on-site and remotely to reduce downtime and improve machine performance.
• Advise European packaging OEMs and system integrators during presentations, demonstrations, and RFPs.
• Gather European packaging market insights to influence the product roadmap.
• Deliver technical training and mentor junior application engineers.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience as a Field Application Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, or Automation Engineer in the packaging machinery industry.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on expertise in packaging mechanics and control loops for Flowpack, HFFS, and VFFS applications.
• Strong PLC programming and motion control experience, including IEC 61131-3, EtherCAT, Profinet, or CANopen.
• Fluent English, written and spoken, is mandatory.
• Willingness to travel extensively across Europe, up to 40–50%.

Nice to have

• Experience with Beckhoff, B&R, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or Rockwell automation platforms.
• Fluency in German, Italian, French, or another major European language.
