Mechanical Development Consultant (Mechatronics)

What you will do

• Translate high-level system concepts into detailed, scalable, production-ready mechanical designs.
• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, bills of materials, assembly instructions, and service documentation using CAD tools.
• Support the design, integration, and testing of mechatronic systems across mechanical, thermal, dynamic, and control domains.
• Collaborate with systems, electronics, software, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and external partners.
• Apply design-for-quality, manufacturability, and serviceability principles throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support risk assessments, design reviews, DFMEA, verification activities, and compliance with applicable safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanical product development, preferably in high-tech, medical, industrial, or precision equipment environments.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD, preferably Creo Parametric, or equivalent tools such as Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
• Experience with PDM/PLM systems such as Windchill or cPLM.
• Knowledge of mechatronic systems, engineering analysis methods, FEA, tolerance stack-ups, and design-for-quality practices.
• Fluent English is required; the role is based in Drachten or Eindhoven.

Nice to have

• Experience with medical devices, healthcare technology, or industrial automation.
• Knowledge of MBSE or V-model development.
• Certification in Design for Six Sigma, Lean, or Agile project delivery.
• Scripting or automation experience with Python or MATLAB.
• Experience in consulting, interim, or project-based engineering roles.
