Sr. Engineering Manager - Operational Engineering

Location: USA, OH, Columbus; priority given to candidates residing in the Columbus metropolitan area

Base pay: $126,000–$210,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and lead an engineering team focused on software reliability, vulnerability remediation, software quality, and operational engineering.
• Establish scalable processes for vulnerability intake, prioritization, remediation, validation, escalation, and reporting.
• Improve reliability, maintainability, operational readiness, dependency management, observability, and engineering sustainability.
• Develop operating models, reusable tooling, automation, standards, and governance across products and engineering organizations.
• Lead cross-functional discovery and transformation with Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Operations.
• Advance developer productivity and responsible AI-assisted engineering practices while measuring quality, reliability, and delivery outcomes.

Requirements

• Must reside in or be based near Columbus, Ohio; priority is given to candidates in the Columbus metropolitan area.
• Visa sponsorship is not available presently or in the future.
• Degree or equivalent experience, typically with 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of supervisory or management experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years of engineering leadership with direct people-management responsibilities.
• Experience leading software reliability, software quality, platform engineering, modernization, DevSecOps, operational engineering, or engineering productivity initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of modern software development lifecycle practices, DevOps principles, metrics-driven decision-making, stakeholder management, and executive communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with vulnerability remediation, application security, dependency management, or secure software development.
• Background in software quality engineering, site reliability engineering, observability, application support, or cloud-native distributed systems.
• Experience implementing automation and AI-assisted engineering practices.
• Experience in regulated industries or complex enterprise environments.
